COMPUTER-ASSISTED LANGUAGE LEARNING



Computer – Assisted Language Learning (CALL) is an approach to language teaching and learning in which computer technology is used to aid the presentation, reinforcement, and assessment of material to be learned, usually including a substantial interactive element.

CALL

  • CALL is not a method.
  • The focus of CALL is learning, and not teaching.
  • CALL materials are used in teaching to facilitate the language learning process.
  • It is a student-centered learning material, which promotes self-paced learning
  • It is a form of computer-based learning that carries two important features: bidirectional learning and individualized learning.
CHARACTERISTIC

  • The language taught
  • The language of instruction
  • The language writing system
  • The level of the language to be taught
  • What is to be taught
  • How it is to be taught.
CALL is divided into 3 main stages:
